The ping test
The test sends small timing messages between your browser and our test node in Chicago (US). Results are calculated in your browser and are not stored. "Test under load" downloads and uploads random data that is discarded as soon as it arrives.
Share links
When you choose "Copy share link", we store the result numbers shown on the card (round-trip time, jitter, packet health, bufferbloat grade, throughput and the time of the test) under a random link. Nothing that identifies you is stored with it. Share links are deleted after 180 days.
Diagnostics
The host, domain or port you enter is used to run that test and is not stored. Private and internal addresses are refused.
AI endpoint tests
With "Relay via pingtest.si", the base URL, model and API key you enter are used for one test request and are not stored or logged. With "Direct from browser", the request goes straight from your browser to the endpoint and never passes through us.
Server logs and abuse limits
Like most websites, our web server records each request (IP address, page, time and browser) to keep the service running and to investigate abuse. These logs are rotated automatically and kept for a short period. Your IP address is also held in memory for a few minutes to limit how many tests can be run in a row. It is not written to our database.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 only if you allow it. Until then no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookies are set. If you allow
it, Google Analytics sets _ga cookies and we send page views plus coarse test results, such as a latency range and the
bufferbloat grade. We never send your IP address, the hosts you test or any keys. Advertising features and Google Signals are turned
off, and analytics data is kept for 14 months.
One necessary cookie, cc_cookie, remembers your choice for about six months. You can change your choice at any time, and
withdrawing consent deletes the analytics cookies.
AI status data
The AI status page shows measurements we make ourselves from Chicago, together with information from each provider's public status page. It contains no visitor data.
